Sar-e-Pol Province of Afghanistan

Sar-e Pol also spelled Sari Pul (Pis one of the thirty-four provinces of Afghanistan. It is in the north of the country. Its capital is the city of Sar-e Pol. Dari Persian is the dominant language in the province.

Major ethnic groups are Uzbeks, Pashtuns, and Hazaras, and there are also some Arabs and Tajiks.

Aminullah Amin, the first senior member of the Taliban to be captured, was the former governor of the province.
